The David Ortiz Children's Fund is dedicated to providing essential support for children in the Dominican Republic and New England who cannot afford critical cardiac services. In partnership with CEDIMAT Hospital in Santo Domingo, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Boston Children's Hospital, we ensure that children receive life-saving heart surgeries. Since our inception, we have saved the lives of over 935 children in the Dominican Republic and assisted thousands more in New England. Through outreach, education, and medical care support, we are committed to enhancing the health and well-being of these children, giving them a chance to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
In February 2005, David Ortiz visited a hospital in the Dominican Republic, just hoping to brighten some kids’ day. But as he walked through the ICU, he saw children fighting for their lives—kids who, with the right care, could grow up to be the next Big Papi. He couldn’t shake the thought that they deserved a real shot at a great future. That moment sparked a mission, and the David Ortiz Children’s Fund was born to make sure no child is left behind when it comes to life-saving medical care.
