What other organizations will David work with in the Dominican Republic?
The David Ortiz Children’s Fund will continue to support Heartcare Dominicana while finding other areas that will improve the critical care for Domincan children. Something we are exploring is to build capacity at Robert Reid Cabral Children’s Hospital. This is of high interest for David because his mother was a nurse there and it is the main children’s hospital for the country’s poor children.
What organizations does David support in the Northeast?
We are excited to support the Northeast region through our partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital. This is the first partnership in the area and we are proud that it is with a hospital that provides excellent advanced pediatric care for children.
How can I find out more about the David Ortiz Children’s Fund?
You can visit www.DavidOrtizChildrensFund.org. The site is only available in English at this time, but a Spanish version will be available soon.
What events/products raise money for the David Ortiz Children’s Fund?
The flagship event for the David Ortiz Children’s Fund is the annual David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic in the Dominican Republic. The Fund also receives a portion of every Big Papi’s En Fuego hot sauce purchase and donations from the Chestnut Petroleum wall promotion currently occurring in the tri-state area.
Are donations eligible for a tax benefit?
Donations that are made directly to the David Ortiz Children’s Fund are tax deductible.

What will the David Ortiz Children's Fund support at MGH?

Mass General and the David Ortiz Children's Fund will collaborate in determining projects to be funded to care for critically-ill children. Gifts from the fund will allow MGH the flexibility to address the most urgent needs in MGHfC's pediatric services as they arise. One example of a program the DOCF may support is transport services, which will allow critically ill children to be quickly transported to MGHfC for immediate treatment.

Exceptional quality care and resources available at MGH, MGHfC, as a hospital within a major academic medical center, benefits from a breadth of resources not available in most hospitals. MGH serves children throughout New England, but its reach extends even further with many critically ill children being transported to MGH for care that local hospitals are not equipped to provide. MGH has a rich research enterprise with physicians and scientists working across disciplines to find solutions to serious medical problems. An answer to an adult issue may provide insights into an illness afflicting children. As chronically ill children approach adulthood, MGH can provide an easy transition to adult care.
